Stephanie Boutari is a multidisciplinary artist based in Waterloo, Ontario. Her practice focuses on the creation of murals and artworks for businesses and public spaces.
Stephanie’s artistic style is strongly influenced by her background in architectural design, often incorporating geometric shapes, three-dimensionality, and vibrant colours that visually engage and uplift the viewer. Operating in a realm between art and design, her creative process draws influence from a range of subjects including architecture, op art, pattern design, nature, street art, and immersive/interactive art.
Whilst every mural project is unique, recurring visual themes include illusory depth, colour perception, and the layering of abstract shapes with smooth, defined borders. Her artistic approach often oscillates between the pure abstract and illustrative; the use of solid shapes in a flat, graphic style and the softer, more nuanced qualities of organic forms and gradients.
As digital technology continues to transform how surfaces are designed, made, and experienced, Stephanie’s work explores this visual tension as a way of examining our ever-evolving relationship to the surfaces that surround us - whether painted or printed, embodying physical material qualities or viewed on a digital screen. Her ultimate goal is to create artworks that spark joy, curiosity, and enhance the everyday experience of the built environment.
Stephanie’s murals can be found in Waterloo Region, London, Toronto, and other cities throughout Southern Ontario. Her work has appeared in local publications and media including Grand Magazine, Doors Open Waterloo/Ontario, National Post and The Record.
