People Watching
Inspired by the simple enjoyment of watching people while sitting in a busy café - I wanted to recreate this ambience and sense of movement by visually activating the large blank wall in one of the common lounge areas at Factory Square, a 530,000 square foot office complex in Waterloo Region’s Idea Quarter.
A short video showing some of the process behind painting the mural. The first step was outlining and filling the coloured silhouettes - this was the most time consuming part as it required multiple coats. After that the hatch lines were carefully drawn freehand using acrylic markers, following lines which I pencilled with a ruler. The final step was brushing the thick black outlines.
