Commissioned by owners of a local Portuguese grocery store, deli and fish market called “Torreense”, this mural was also sponsored by the Waterloo Region Arts Fund. The building has a long history of being a local market for the Mill-Courtland community. Located at the corner of a busy intersection, the facade had looked outdated and bare, in need of clear signage and a greater street presence. The design draws from Portuguese culture and tradition combined with a contemporary brightly coloured geometric pattern.
