Commissioned by Hotel 52 in St. Jacobs. Unravel is inspired by the concept of a giant imaginary fabric or veil unraveling itself from within the center of the wall in a large sweeping motion. Its abstract composition of large curvilinear and geometric shapes is partly informed by the angle of the existing stairway and other architectural elements such as the windows. One of the main goals driving the design was a desire to create motion and visual depth, and the idea of re-revealing this site with a new identity.
